The Indie’s World Team
A Commitment Without Borders
Behind Indie’s World stands a dedicated and passionate team working every day, both in Mauritius and in Europe. All are volunteers, except for two employees—one of whom has been there since the beginning. Together, they unite their strengths to rescue, heal, and give a future to stray dogs.
A unique bond connects them to the animals they protect. Despite their different paths, they all share the same conviction: the unconditional love a dog can give. A dog is more than a companion; it is daily emotional support. Without words, it feels our emotions, soothes our pain, and reminds us: “Don’t worry, I’m here by your side.”
Joining the Indie’s World adventure means committing to animal protection, but also discovering the strength of this bond and the transformative power of a dog’s love.
Before meeting Indie, there was Foxy. For 14 years, she was my shadow, my rock, walking beside me through every stage of my life—from Switzerland to Mauritius. At first, it was just the two of us, then surrounded by hundreds of other dogs, yet she always adapted with infinite kindness, welcoming every newcomer with gentleness.
When Indie arrived, the bond was instant. Like me, Foxy loved him at first sight. From his early days, she took him under her wing, cleaning him, teaching him dog manners, watching over him like a mother over her child.
Foxy wasn’t just a dog; she was my example, my friend, my strength. She felt my emotions and understood me without a word. Even today, she continues to inspire me.Even today, she continues to inspire me.
Every dog I rescue, every hopeful look I meet, reminds me why I keep fighting. They are my source of energy, my strength to go on despite the fatigue, the injustice, and the cruelty I too often witness.
People often tell me those dogs were lucky to meet me… but believe me, I’m the lucky one — to have shared their love.

Malika’s message
Barack was the first dog I ever cared for in Mauritius. Struck by parvovirus, he was in absolute distress. From the very first moment, a powerful bond formed between us. There is something indescribable about a rescue — an intense connection, a relationship forged in urgency and hope.
Today, I’m surrounded by rescued dogs, and they have taught me so much. They are models of courage, resilience, patience, forgiveness… and so much more.
Because of them, I learned to manage my emotions in the face of human cruelty, abandonment, suffering, and death — but most importantly, I turned that pain into strength by creating a community committed to change.
Our mission? To raise awareness, to educate, to share the right actions. Because every human being should have the chance to discover what it truly means to share life with a dog — a love that is pure, unconditional, and sincere.

About our employees
For years, Anne and Rosemay have kept Indie’s World alive with strength and dedication. Between cleaning enclosures, preparing meals, daily care, and walks, they ensure the dogs’ well-being with unwavering efficiency.
Always present, they work alongside volunteers from around the world, sharing their experience and commitment. Thanks to them, the shelter runs smoothly, and every dog receives the care and attention it deserves.
“I was always taught that a dog was just a house guard. When I first arrived at Indie’s World, I didn’t feel a particular attachment to them. But day after day, my view changed. Today, I’m moved by every adoption, and my relationship with my own dogs is no longer the same — I’m much more attentive to their needs. ” – Anne
