Information about

ADOPTION

Please read the information below before completing the adoption form.

Dog’s well-being

  • The animal must receive appropriate food, regular veterinary care, and have a safe and comfortable living environment.
  • It is strictly forbidden to keep the dog permanently tied up or confined.
  • In Mauritius, a home visit will be carried out before adoption to ensure proper living conditions.
For international adoptions, a video call will be organized with our team to assess your home.

Health and veterinary follow-up

  • Vaccinations must be updated every year.
  • The animal must be examined by a veterinarian whenever necessary.

Exceptional situations

  • In case your dog goes missing: immediately inform Indie’s World and do everything possible to find them.
  • In case of the animal’s death, you must notify Indie’s World within 7 days.
  • The dog cannot be given or transferred to another person without Indie’s World’s prior approval.

Post-adoption follow-up

  • A member of Indie’s World team will contact you regularly to ensure everything is going well with your dog and to answer any questions you may have.
  • Follow-up visits may also be organized if necessary to ensure the animal’s well-being.
  • If you experience any difficulties with your dog, Indie’s World is available to provide advice and appropriate solutions.

Due to new restrictions, we can no longer have dogs travel with Flight Buddies, except for certain countries.

Adopters now have two options:

  1. Pick up their dog directly on site (see details).
  2. Use a specialized travel agent who will handle all the arrangements for transport by cargo.

🚨 The dog must be at least 3 months old at the time of travel.

Steps

1. Fill out the adoption form available here.

2. Meet with the team to:

  • Understand your motivations.
  • Check compatibility with the animal.
  • Discuss any specific needs.

3. To confirm the adoption

  • Send the completed and signed adoption contract.
  • [For adoptions outside Mauritius] Pay the 70 CHF or EUR fee (see payment details below) to start the veterinary procedures.

⚠️ Please note: in case of withdrawal, this fee is non-refundable.

4. Arrival of your dog

  • In Mauritius, Cindy or Malika will bring the dog directly to your home, or you can pick them up at the shelter.

  • For international adoptions, we will do our best to find a Flight Buddy so your companion can join you as soon as possible!
